Methods for Cleaning or Taking Up :
Recovery :
- Keep in properly labelled containers.
- Use only explosion-proof equipment.
- Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Neutralization :
- Soak up with inert absorbent material.
Decontamination/cleaning :
- Wash off with plenty of water.
Disposal :
- Process the contaminated absorbent material as waste product
- Dispose of contents/ container to an approved incineration plant.
Additional advice :
- Dispose of promptly.
- Stop the leak. Turn leaking containers leak-side up to prevent the escape of liquid.
- Keep away from flames and hot surfaces.
- Mark the contaminated area with signs and prevent access to unauthorized personnel.
Measures for separation from incompatible substances and mixtures
- Ventilate the area.
- Oxidizing materials.
Handling and storage
Concerns the blend of the substance with its solvent (Methylcyclohexane).
Handling
Technical measures :
- Blanket with inert gas.
- Use explosion-proof electrical/ ventilating/ lighting/ equipment.
- Keep in a bunded area.
- Earth the equipment.
Advice on safe handling and usage :
- Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
- No smoking.
- All pipes used to transfer the product must not contain any water or oxygen.
- Operate if possible out of doors or in a well-ventilated place.
Storage
Technical Measures for storage :
- The floor of the depot should be impermeable and designed to form a watertight basin.
Storage conditions
Recommended :
- Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place.
- Protect from sunlight.
- Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.
- Keep container tightly closed and dry.
Incompatible products :
- Oxidizing materials.
- Mineral acids.
- Alkalis and caustic products.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Concerns the blend of the substance with its solvent (Methylcyclohexane).
Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.
Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection :
- Use a respirator with an approved filter if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.
- In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.
- Filtering respiratory protective device with an ABE gas canister.
Hand protection :
- Where there is a risk of contact with hands, use appropriate gloves. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU
Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.
- Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time.
- Gloves must be inspected prior to use.
- Gloves should be discarded and replaced if there is any indication of degradation or chemical breakthrough.
