Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air and avoid further exposure. In case of a

persistent coughing or breathing trouble, seek medical

attention.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse thouroughly with water for min. 15 min. If persistent

irritation occurs, obtain medical attention.

Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin with water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Give plenty of water to drink. Obtain medical attention if

unconscious.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, carbon dioxide, alcohol resistent foam, dry chemical.

Product arising from burning: Water, carbon dioxide, alkanes and alkenes.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: Fresh air equipment, protection gloves and glasses.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: The material is collected, using a hoover, and send for

disposal at the local authorities in a closed container.

Handling and storage

Handling: When handling the material wear protection glasses, gloves

and breathing apparatus.

Ethanol can with time penetrate the gloves which is why it

is important often to change gloves.

Ignition sources or open fire is not allowed in the area

where the material is being used.

Storage: Store away from ignition sources and open fire.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Plastic barrels (drums) of 50 kg.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Category 611: "Recovery by mechanical collection".

After use the compound is send back to FeF Chemicals A/S for

regeneration.

The regeneration is effected through the following process:

1) The solvents are eliminated below nitrogen at a

temperature of 150 degrees

2) The temperature is increased to 600 degrees below

nitrogen

3)  At this  temperature, the main part of the  organic

components are disposed of and the product is oxydised with

air at 700 degrees.

4)  The product is passed through a sieve

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Category 633: "Neutralisation by water treatment".

The hazardous effect of ethanol used in the marketed

preparation can be neutralised by treatment of water.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Incineration

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Category 662: "Incinerate, high temperature-long burn".

Destruction of the material will be by incineration. The

organic part will be released as CO/CO2 and the remaining

part as SiO2.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not relevant

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not relevant, as the substance is not intended for the

general public.
