Results

The thermograms and thermographic data for Determinations 1 to 6 are shown in the Attachment 1 of this Summary.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The boiling point of the test item has been determined to be 378 ± 1 °C (651 ± 1 K) at 99 to 102 kPa.
Executive summary:

The determination was carried out by differential scanning calorimetry, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.2 Boiling Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 103 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals,

27 July 1995.

Discussion

The overall boiling point was based on Determinations 3 to 6 using the extrapolated onset value. These determinations used the pre-pierced crucible lid which allows the test item to create a self-generated atmosphere and this significantly reduces evaporation of the test item prior to boiling. Hence the endotherm has a steeper leading edge on which an extrapolating tangent can be more accurately placed.

Due to the desired delay in the endotherm by the pre-pierced crucible lids, the endotherms were not completed by 400 °C. Therefore, the additional determinations up to 450 °C were performed to capture the full profile.

Conclusion

The boiling point of the test item has been determined to be 378 ± 1 °C (651 ± 1 K) at 99 to 102 kPa.
