Description of key information

Based on its physical chemical properties, Blue Tansy oil is classified as Flammable liquid, Category 3, according to the criteria of Regulation 1272/2008/EC (CLP).

Blue Tansy Oil is a deep blue, slightly viscous, limpid liquid with a fruity, sweet and herbal smell as determined by visual/olfactory inspection

Blue Tansy oil has a melting/freezing temperature of <-20ºC.

Blue Tansy oil has a boiling range of 150-247ºC at ambient pressure.

The relative density of Blue Tansy oil is 0.9016 @ 20ºC.

The initial vapour pressure of Blue Tansy oil was found to be 177.16 Pa at 25°C. The vapour pressure of the constituents ranges from 0.016-981 Pa (QSAR).

The log Kow range for Blue Tansy oil (Tanacetum annuum essential oil) constituents was found to be 2.85 - 6.99 @ 25ºC. 83.5% of the substance has a log Kow >= 4.0 (QSAR).

The range of water solubilities for the known constituents of Blue Tansy oil (Tanacetum annuum essential oil) was found to be 0.3171 - 920.37 mg/L at 25°C. The main constituent, chamazulene, has a water solubility < 10 mg/L, 83.5% of the NCS has a water solubility < 100 mg/L (QSAR).

Blue Tansy oil has a flash point of 51.5ºC at regular atmospheric pressure. The flash point lies between ≥23 °C - ≤60 °C, hence, the substance should be classified as “flammable liquid category 3” according to REGULATION (EC) No 1272/2008.

The substance Blue Tansy Oil (Tanacetum annuum essential oil has an auto-ignition temperature of 255ºC @ 1010-1019 hPa.
