First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Symptomatic treatment.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash with plenty of water. If irritation persists or
develops seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash the affected area with soap and water. If irritation
persists or develops seek medical atention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: Dry powder, carbon
dioxide or foam.
Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: Oxides of carbon, sulphur
and nitrogen together with some soot. Acetaldehyde and
crotonaldehyde are known combustion products.
Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a self
contained breathing apparatus is recommended.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Collect spill using a scoop or vacuum and place into a
suitable cotainer for disposal. Wash down the area with
plenty of water. Dispose of all waste in accordance with
local or national legislation.
Handling and storage
Handling: Wear either latex/natural rubber or nitrile/rubber gloves
when handling the substance.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance becomes insoluble after exposure to UV
radiation. Insoluble material can be recovered by treatment
with 4% aqueous sodium periodate.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable, no known hazardous effects.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Disposal at a landfill site in accordance with local
legislation is possible.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Do not allow the substance to enter water systems as it
forms a gelatinous precipitate in water. Inform the local
authorites if this happens.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
