Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
The registered UVCB substance " Stearic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol" (PGMS) is a paste-like solid at room temperature. It melts at about 41.1 -42.6°C and has a boiling point of 397°C. It has a density of 0.93 at 20°C, i.e., slightly below water density. The partition coefficient was calculated using EpiSuite (US EPA Epi Suite v4.0) showing a logPow for the test substance of 7.67. It has a very low solubility in water with a calculated water solubility of 0.006205 mg/L. Due to the very low solubility in water (<<1mg/L) it was not possible to measure the surface tension. The shear viscosity of the test substance was between 0.01 and 0.1 PaS at 40°C.
A flash point was not identified up to 130°C, thus the flash point is > 130°C. Auto flammability and flammability was not measured as the test substance is solid with a low melting point about 41.1 -42.6°C. The vapor pressure has been calculated using the US EPA Epi Suite v4.0 for all components present in the UVCB substance >1%w/w. The vapour pressure is assessed to be less than 1.5E-5 Pa at 25°C. The registered substance " Stearic acid, monoester with propane-1,2-diol " does not have oxidising nor explosive properties. Furthermore, the average particle size of pellets was measured to be 4.19 ± 0.55 mm.
