- Conclusions:
- The water solubility of the test item component Dimethyl-n-propylphosphonate at 20°C was 206 g/L. The pH of the aqueous samples was between 1.2 and 1.4.
The water solubility of the test item component Dimethoxyposphoryloctadecanoic acid (Mono-PFA) at 20°C was 0.0235 g/L. The pH of the aqueous samples was between 3.3 and 3.7. - Executive summary:
The objective of this study was to determine water solubility for Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., phosphates following EC Guideline A.6, OECD Guideline105, EPA OPPTS 830.7840 and GLP principles. Since the test item is an UVCB with expected surface active properties (based on the composition), the water solubility was measured by the shake flask method at two different loading rates based on the two main components that covered the wide water solubility range, i.e. Dimethyl-n-propylphosphonate with an expected high solubility and Dimethoxyphosphoryloctadeconaoic acid (mono-PFA) with a low solubility. The water solubility of the test item component Dimethyl-n-propylphosphonateat 20°C was 206 g/L. The water solubility of the test item component Dimethoxyposphoryloctadecanoic acid (Mono-PFA)at 20°C was 0.0235 g/L.

Description of key information
The flask method was applied for the determination of the water solubility of Fatty acids, C18-unsatd., phosphates following EC Guideline A.6, OECD Guideline 105, EPA OPPTS 830.7840. and GLP principles. A method was developed to determine the solubility of the major alkylphosphonate and the other phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated fatty acids. These components are the most soluble and interesting for the toxicity studies. The overall range water solubility values were from 0.0235 g/L to 206 g/L.
Therefore, the value of 0.0235 g/L has been used as a key value for the chemical safety assessment.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 0.024 g/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
