Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.4 (Vapour Pressure)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
effusion method: vapour pressure balance
Key result
Temp.:
25 °C
Vapour pressure:
< 0.001 Pa
Conclusions:
The vapour pressure for resin acids and rosin acids, maleated, sodium salts is <0.000097 Pa at 25°C.
Executive summary:

The vapour pressure of resin acids and rosin acids, maleated, sodium salts was determined using a vapour pressure balance with measurements taken at several temperatures in the range 170 -180 °C. A total of eight runs were completed but statistical analyses were not possible due to the low values and variability in the measurements. A vapour pressure of <0.000097 Pa at 25 °C was extrapolated from a regression slope imposed on run 8 at which degassing would be most complete.

This is a GLP-compiant, guideline study and is considered to be suitable for use as the key study for this endpoint.

Description of key information

The vapour pressure of substances in the category Rosin adducts and rosin adduct salts range from 0.0000022 Pa to <8.47 Pa at 25°C.

There is no data available for Resin acids and Rosin acids, maleated, potassium salts. However, based on a category approach data available from Resin acids and Rosin acids, maleated, sodium salts is used for read across.

Vapour pressure of Resin acids and rosin acids, maleated sodium salts is <0.000097 Pa at 25°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There is no data available for Resin acids and Rosin acids, maleated, potassium salts. However, based on a category approach data available from Resin acids and Rosin acids, maleated, sodium salts is used for read across.

A GLP-compliant study, conducted according to OECD Guideline 104 (effusion method: vapour pressure balance), was provided for Resin acids and Rosin acids, maleated, sodium salt (Harlan Laboratories Ltd., 2012a).
