Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Physico-chemical properties were determined from experimental testing. Some endpoints were waived, based on surface active properties or chemical structure.

The substance is a solid at ambient temperature, with low volatility.

The critical micelle concentration of the test item was determined to be 70.0 mg/L at 20.0 ±0.5 °C. It is less dense than water (so likely float), with surface-active properties anticipated.

No hazard was identified with regard to physical properties (flammability, explosivity, oxidising properties) based on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP regulation).

From granulometry, the substance contains a limited fraction of particles fine enough to be inhaled (approx 10%), also 1% of particles reach the thoracic fraction. However, dust explosion potential should be considered.

Summary of relevant physico-chemical properties:

Endpoint (method)

Data

Appearance

(OPPTS Guideline: 830.6302 and 830.6303)

A sample of test item was visually assessed at 20.0 ± 0.5 ºC to be a white, opaque, free-flowing, soft, fine powder, which forms hard clumps (not easily broken down) of various sizes. The color was classified as N 9.5/90.0% R using the Munsell® Color System.

Melting point

(OPPTS/OECD 102/EU A1, DSC Method)

The test item was determined to decompose with softening/melting from approximately 188 °C (461 K) at 102 kPa

Boiling point

(waiving)

Waived because of decomposition of the substance before melting / boiling.

Relative density

(OECD 109/EU A3, gas comparison pycnometer)

The density of the test item was determined to be 976 kg/m3 at 20.0 ± 0.5 ºC. The corresponding relative density was calculated to be 0.976.

Less dense than water.

Particle size distribution

(EUR 20268 EN, Sieving and Cascade impactor)

Proportion of test item having an inhalable particle size <100 μm =10.0%

Proportion of test item having a thoracic particle size <10.0 μm=1.06%

Proportion of test item having a respirable particle size <5.5 μm= 0.044%

Vapour pressure

(OECD 104/EU A4, effusion by VP balance)

6.2E-7 Pa at 25°C

Log Kow

(waiving)

waiving (surface active substance)

Water solubility (waiving)

Critical Micelle Concentration (CMC) (based on OECD 105/EU A5, ring method)

Water solubility: waiving (surface active substances)

The critical micelle concentration of the test item was determined to be 70.0 mg/L at 20.0 ±0.5 °C (CMC is considered as a water solubility limit).

Surface tension

(OECD 105/EU A5, ring method)

The surface tension at a nominal concentration of 1.0 g/L, was determined to be 40.3 mN/m at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C. (surface active).

Flammability

Oxidising properties

(data waiving, based on structure)

No potential.

 Self-reactive properties
