Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
October 2009
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Comparable to guideline study (EC A.16.) with acceptable restrictions
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: VDI 2263, Blatt 1, Grewer-Ofen
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
A self-ignition screening test according to Grewer was performed.

Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
ca. 225 °C

The onset of the temperature rise in the sample was at 170 °C with the 8 cm³ sample volume. The temperature of the oven, at which the sample temmperature reached 400 °C, is ca. 225 °C. The self-ignition temperature is ca. 225 °C.

The mixture of the test item with Kieselguhr (1:1) showed a self-ignition temperature of ca. 275 °C.

Conclusions:
The self-ignition temperature is ca. 225 °C.
