Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Auto-ignition temperature:
500 °C
Atm. press.:
1 023 hPa
Remarks on result:
other: +/- 3°C

Hot flame autoignition temperature (AIT, °C): 500

Time lag to auto-ignition (seconds): 21

Barometric pressure (kPa): 102.3

Sample quantity (µL): 100

Cool Flame Observed down to (CFT °C): N/A

Reaction threshold temperature (RTT °C): 460

Reaction threshold temperature rise (RTT °C): 2

Ignitions produced an orange flame and black smoke. No cool flames were observed

Conclusions:
Auto-ignition temperature (ASTM E659-78): 500 +/- 3°C (1023 hPa)
Executive summary:

The auto-ignition temperatue was determined for 1-chloro-2,3-dimethylbenzene according to ASTM E659-78 compliant with GLP.

The test item (approx. 100 µL) was placed in a heated 0.5-L flask, and the flask was observed in the dark. This procedure was repeated, varying the temperature, and the lowest temperature that the test item was observed to ignite was the autoignition temperature. The "ignition delay time", the time between addition of test item to the flask and ignition, was also recorded.

Results obtained:

Auto-ignition temperature: 500 +/- 3 °C at 1023 hPa;

Ignition delay time: 21 seconds.
