Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment
Administrative data
PBT assessment: overall result
- Name:
- 2,2'-[(1-methylethylidene)bis(cyclohexane-4,1-diyloxymethylene)]bisoxirane
- Type of composition:
- boundary composition of the substance
- State / form:
- liquid
- Reference substance:
- 2,2'-[(1-methylethylidene)bis(cyclohexane-4,1-diyloxymethylene)]bisoxirane
- Name:
- 2,2'-[(1-methylethylidene)bis(cyclohexane-4,1-diyloxymethylene)]bisoxirane
- Type of composition:
- legal entity composition of the substance
- State / form:
- liquid
- Reference substance:
- 2,2'-[(1-methylethylidene)bis(cyclohexane-4,1-diyloxymethylene)]bisoxirane
- PBT status:
- the substance is not PBT / vPvB
- Justification:
The test material was assessed for ready biodegradability according to OECD Test Guideline 301F using a manometric respirometry test. After 28 days the test material exhibited less than 10 % biodegradation. There was no inhibition of microbial activity under the test conditions. On the basis of these data the test material cannot be classed as "readily biodegradable". By reference to ECHA Guidance R.11.1.2.2 "Screening criteria and information for identification of PBTs and vPvBs" the substance is considered to be classed as P but insufficient data is available to justify classification as vP.
In a test to ascertain the octan-1-ol/water partition coefficient according to OECD Test Guideline 117 using the HPLC method the log Pow of the test material was determined to be 4.0 at 25 °C. By reference to ECHA Guidance R.11.1.2.2 "Screening criteria and information for identification of PBTs and vPvBs" the substance is considered not to be classed as either B or vB.
The substance does not meet the criteria for classification as carcinogenic (category 1A or 1B), germ cell mutagenic (category 1A or 1B), or toxic for reproduction (category 1A, 1B, or 2) according to Regulation EC No 1272/2008. The substance is not classified for specific target organ toxicity after repeated exposure and the long-term no-observed effect concentration or EC10 for marine or freshwater organisms is > 0.01 mg/L. The test material is classified as toxic to the aquatic environment (Chronic toxicity, Category 2) but the NOEC does not meet the criteria for classification for long-term toxicity. As such, by reference to ECHA Guidance R.11.1.2.2 "Screening criteria and information for identification of PBTs and vPvBs" the substance is considered not to be classed as T.
The PBT status therefore concludes that the substance is not PBT / vPvB.
