First-aid measures

DESCRIPTION OF FIRST AID MEASURES

- General information: Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

- Inhalation: Move affected person to fresh air at once. If breathing stops, provide artificial respiration. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

- Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

- Skin contact: Remove affected person from source of contamination. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

- Eye contact: Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

MOST IMPORTANT SYMPTOMS AND EFFECTS, BOTH ACUTE AND DELAYED

- General information: The severity of the symptoms described will vary dependent on the concentration and the length of exposure.

INDICATION OF ANY IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND SPECIAL TREATMENT NEEDED

- Notes for the doctor: No specific recommendations.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA

- Suitable extinguishing media: Extinguish with foam, carbon dioxide or dry powder.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media: None known.

SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE

- Specific hazards: No unusual fire or explosion hazards noted.

- Hazardous combustion products: Carbon dioxide (CO2). Carbon monoxide (CO). Nitrous gases (NOx).

ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS

- Protective actions during firefighting: No specific firefighting precautions known.

- Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear positive-pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and appropriate protective clothing.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

- Personal precautions: Wear protective clothing as described in ‘Exposure Controls/personal protection’

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS

- Environmental precautions: Do not discharge into drains or watercourses or onto the ground.

METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP

- Methods for cleaning up: Stop leak if possible without risk. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Collect spillage for reclamation or disposal in sealed containers via a licensed waste contractor. Avoid water contacting spilled material or leaking containers.

Handling and storage

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING

- Usage precautions: Avoid spilling. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Provide adequate ventilation. Avoid inhalation of vapours. Use approved respirator if air contamination is above an acceptable level.

CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE, INCLUDING ANY INCOMPATABILITIES

- Storage precautions: Store in tightly-closed, original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep separate from food, feedstuffs, fertilisers and other sensitive material.

- Storage class: Miscellaneous hazardous material storage.

Exposure controls / personal protection

CONTROL PARAMETERS

- Ingredient comments: No exposure limits known for ingredient(s).

EXPOSURE CONTROLS

- Protective equipment:

Appropriate engineering controls: Provide adequate general and local exhaust ventilation.

Eye/face protection: The following protection should be worn: Tight-fitting safety glasses.

Hand protection Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard should be worn if a risk assessment indicates skin contact is possible.

Other skin and body protection: Provide eyewash station and safety shower. Wear appropriate clothing to prevent any possibility of skin contact.

Hygiene measures: Use engineering controls to reduce air contamination to permissible exposure level. Wash at the end of each work shift and before eating, smoking and using the toilet.

Respiratory protection: If ventilation is inadequate, suitable respiratory protection must be worn.

Stability and reactivity

REACTIVITY

- Reactivity: There are no known reactivity hazards associated with this product.

CHEMICAL STABILITY

- Stability: Stable at normal ambient temperatures and when used as recommended.

POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS REACTIONS

- Possibility of hazardous reactions: Will not polymerise.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID

- Conditions to avoid: Avoid exposure to high temperatures or direct sunlight.

INCOMPATABLE MATERIALS

- Materials to avoid: Strong oxidising agents. Strong reducing agents. Strong acids. Strong alkalis.

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS

- Hazardous decomposition products: Thermal decomposition or combustion may liberate carbon oxides and other toxic gases or vapours. Oxides of carbon. Oxides of nitrogen.

Disposal considerations

WASTE TREATMENT METHODS

- Disposal methods: Dispose of waste to licensed waste disposal site in accordance with the requirements of the local Waste Disposal Authority. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Dispose of waste via a licensed waste disposal contractor.
