No experimental data is available for the assessment of the short-term toxicity of the substance to aquatic invertebrates, therefore data from a study on Similar Substance 01 is used. Justification for Read Across is given in Section 13 of IUCLID.
The study was performed under GLP conditions and in line with the OECD guideline 202 and EU method C.2. Due to the insolubility of the test material, the study was performed with a water soluble fraction as a limit test to Daphnia magna. One daphnid in the WSF was found to be swimming with irregular movements at the end of the test. No daphnids were found to be immobile in the control or test groups. Under the conditions of the study, the 48 h EC50 was found to be greater than the water solubility of the test material (aqueous solubility is between 0.09 and 0.54 mg/l). The EC50 (48 h) is > 0.21 mg/l (geometric mean of the solubility of the test material).
The substance is expected to not have any toxic effects on daphnia in concentrations up to the water solubility.
The substance is considered as highly insoluble in water. No toxic effects were observed up to the limit of water solubility and thus the EC50 is higher than the highest (measured, geom.mean) concentration. The key value used for chemical safety assessment is the highest value considered to be safe for aquatic toxicity according to the CLP Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008, i.e. 100 mg/l.
