Toxicity to fish

The acute toxicity of TiBTD was assessed with acute fish toxicity test on Zebrafish (Brachydanio rerio), over an exposure period of 96 hours in a semi-static system. Under the conditions of this study, the observed and calculated endpoints for the effect of CARVACROL were as the following: The 24h, 48h, 72h and 96h LC50 values were all found to be > 100% saturated solution (nominal). The 96h NOEC value was 100% saturated solution (nominal).Based on the results, the test item TiBTD had no toxic effect at saturation on fish.

Toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Acute toxicity of TiBTD on Daphnia magna was assessed in an acute immobilisation test, over an exposure period of 48 hours in a semi-static test system. Under the conditions of this Daphnia magna acute immobilisation study, the observed endpoints for the effect of TiBTD were the followings: The 24h and 48h EC50 values were > 100% saturated solution. The 48h NOEC and LOEC were 100% saturated solution and > 100% saturated solution, respectively. Based on the results, the test item TiBTD had no toxic effect of the test item in the test medium.

Toxicity to algae

The effect of TiBTD test item was assessed on algal growth using the unicellular green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (formerly known as Selenastrum capricornutum), over an exposure period of 72 hours. Based on the results of this study, the test item TiBTD had no toxic effect at saturation; the EC50 and the LOEC are higher than the solubility level of the test item in the test medium.

Toxicity to micro-organisms

The effect of TiBTD on the total respiration rate of activated sludge microorganisms was investigated in this study. The 3- hour EC50 value is > 1000 mg/L. The Based on the results of the study, the test item TiBTD had no inhibition effect on the total respiration rate of the microorganisms of the activated sludge at 1000 mg/L.
