First-aid measures

If breathed in :  move person into fresh air. Artificial respiration and/or oxygen may be necessary. Consult a physician. Victim to lie down in the recovery position, cover and keep him warm.

In case of skin contact :  Remove all contaminated clothing under the shower. Wash off immediately with plenty of water. Call a physician immediately. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Keep warm and in a quiet place.

In case of eye contact :  Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses. Consult a physician.

If swallowed :  rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious). Do NOT induce vomiting. Call a physician immediately. Drink plenty of water.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:

Inhalation may provoke the following symptoms: Irritating to mucous membranes, Headache, Dizziness, Unconsciousness

Skin contact may provoke the following symptoms: Causes burns. Has a degreasing effect on the skin.

Eye contact may provoke the following symptoms: Eye damage

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Treat symptomatically

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media :  Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Water spray, Alcohol-resistant foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry chemical, Aqueous film forming foam (AFFF).

Unsuitable extinguishing media :  Water spray jet

Specific hazards during firefighting :  Highly flammable Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.

Special protective equipment for firefighters :  In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Specific extinguishing methods: In the event of fire, cool tanks with water spray.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions :  Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Isolate the area. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Environmental precautions :  Should not be released into the environment. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Methods for cleaning up :

Large spills + Small spills: Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".

Large spills: Dam up. Soak up with inert absorbent material. Keep in properly labelled containers.

Small spills: Gently cover the spill with an absorbent towel or pad.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling : To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat. Use personal protective equipment as required. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin and eyes. Prevent the dangers of splashing when transferring or diluting. Do not use in areas without adequate ventilation.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion :  Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.

Hygiene measures :  Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Requirements for storage areas and containers :  Store in a corrosion resistant container with a resistant inner liner. To maintain product quality, do not store in heat or direct sunlight. Store in original container. Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Store at room temperature. Take necessary action to avoid static electricity discharge (which might cause ignition of organic vapours).

Recommended storage temperature :  15 - 25 °C

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures : All personal protective equipment should be based on a risk assessment. Consult a Environment Health Safety expert if necessary. Engineering controls should be used as the primary means to control possible exposures. Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep exposure levels below recommended exposure limits.

Personal protective equipment :

Eye protection :  Face-shield

Hand protection material : Neoprene

Remarks : Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact). Impervious gloves

Skin and body protection :  closed work clothing chemical resistant apron, coat or coverall. Boots

Respiratory protection :  Engineering controls should always be the primary method of controlling exposures. If respiratory protective equipment is needed for certain activities, the type as well as the corresponding protection factor will depend upon the risk assessment and air concentrations, hazards, physical and warning properties of substances present. Use only respiratory protection that conforms to international/ national standards. Respirator with a vapour filter ABEK

Protective measures :  The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace. The type of protective equipment must be selected based on the Environmental Health and Safety risk assessment. Consult a Environmental Health and Safety expert if necessary.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity :  Vapours may form explosive mixtures with air.

Chemical stability : Stable under recommended storage conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions :  Corrosive in contact with metals

Conditions to avoid : Exposure to moisture To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat. Heat, flames and sparks.

Materials to avoid :  Metals, Strong oxidizing agents Strong acids, Strong bases

Hazardous decomposition products : Carbon oxides, HBr

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods : product  must be incinerated in a suitable incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities. In accordance with National, Federal, State and Local regulations.

Contaminated packaging :  Empty containers should be taken to an approved waste handling site for recycling or disposal.
