Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Sample tested:
other: 1:9 sample-to-cellulose ratio
Parameter:
burning time of reaction over a distance of 200 mm
Result:
272 s
Remarks on result:
flaming
Remarks:
without fume

No ignition occurred, slow combustion occurred. The result of the preliminary screening test indicate the need to perform the main test, some mixture: test item/cellulose, containing a quantity of test item varying from 10 % to 90 % in weigh, were prepared.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The max speed of combustion of barium nitrate/cellulose mixture was very higher than the same test item/cellulose; it is possible without any doubt to exclude that the test item has oxiding properties considering the type and time of combustion surely not oxidative
.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

No ignition occurred, slow combustion occurred. The result of the preliminary screening test indicate the need to perform the main test, some mixture: test item/cellulose, containing a quantity of test item varying from 10 % to 90 % in weigh, were prepared.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The max speed of combustion of barium nitrate/cellulose mixture was very higher than the same test item/cellulose; it is possible without any doubt to exclude that the test item has oxiding properties considering the type and time of combustion surely not oxidative
