Description of key information

The short-term toxicity to fish and the toxicity to aquatic algae was calculated by the valid (Q)SAR model ECOSAR. A LC50/96h value to fish of 79.17 mg/L and an EC50/96h value to green algae of 80.84 mg/L was calculated. This values fits well with the information of the ECHA Annex III inventory list (LC50/96h (fish) = 79.07 mg/L and EC50/96h (green algae) = 80.72 mg/L).

As the two short-term aquatic toxicity studies (on fish and green algae) delivered LC50/EC50 values between 79 - 81 mg/L and the test material was found to be readily biodegradable, the substance 2 -lauroyloxyethyltrimethylammonium chloride will not be classified as hazardous to the environment.
