Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Short-term invertebrates: 48-h EC50 >41 μg/L, geometric mean measured concentration, effects on mobility of Daphnia magna, read across from 3-hexyl heptamethyltrisiloxane (CAS 1873-90-1).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No data are available with the registration substance for short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates. Data are read-across from the structural analogue 3-hexyl heptamethyltrisiloxane (CAS 1873-90-1).

No effects were observed in a 48-hour study conducted with Daphnia magna in a closed system, saturated solution of 3-hexyl heptamethyltrisiloxane. Chemical analysis determined measured concentrations in excess of the solubility limit of the substance in test media (6 μg/l (reported as 6 ppb)). It can therefore be concluded that the 48-hour EC50 value for aquatic invertebrates is >LoS of the test substance.

When the results are expressed using measured concentrations of the Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF), a 48-hour EC50 value of >41 μg/l can be determined for the effects of the test substance on mobility of Daphnia magna, based on geometric mean measured concentrations (geometric mean concentrations calculated by the reviewer using the analytical data).
