Description of key information

Of the three trophic levels tested for aquatic toxicity, fresh water algae appeared to be most sensitive with a 72h-EC50 of 32.7 mg/L.

Additional information

Reaction mass of 3-hydroxypropan-1-aminium D-gluconate and N-(3-hydroxypropyl)-D-gluconamide is not toxic to fish as no mortality has occurred at the limit concentration of 100 mg/L and not toxic to invertebrates as no immobility of Daphnia magna exposed has occurred at the limit concentration of 100 mg/L. In the case of fresh water algae, the 72h-EC50 of reaction mass of 3-hydroxypropan-1-aminium D-gluconate and N-(3-hydroxypropyl)-D-gluconamide for growth rate is 32.7 mg/L . Based on the results of the statistical analysis, the NOEC and LOEC values for biomass (cell growth), growth rate and yield were 4.72 and 8.50 mg/L, respectively. The concentration which cause a 50% reduction respiration rate in activated sludge (EC50 for microorganisms) was estimated to be > 1000 mg/L.
