- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The test item did not meet the classification criteria for oxidising properties in the sense of the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part 34.4.1 (Test O.1).
- Executive summary:
The purpose of this study was the determination of the oxidising properties of the test item according to: UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Test and Criteria, Part Ill, UN test O.1.
Tests were conducted on the test item mixed with cellulose in mixing ratios of 1:1 and 4:1 by mass, of sample to cellulose. The burning characteristics of the mixtures (mean burning time) were compared with the standard 3:7 mixture, by mass, of potassium bromate to cellulose (test criteria for Packing Group Ill). If the burning time is equal or less than this standard mixture, the burning times should be compared with those from the Packing group I or II reference standards, 3:2 and 2:3 ratios, by mass, of potassium bromate to cellulose, respectively.
Due to the fact that the mixtures of test item with cellulose (4:1 and 1 :1) showed a mean burning time higher than the mean burning time of a 3:7 mixture of potassium bromate and cellulose, it was concluded that the test item had no oxidising properties.

Individual results
More than 40 % of the test item showed a particle size > 500 µm. Therefore, the test item was ground and sieved to < 500 µm.
Five tests were performed on the mixture of the test item with cellulose in the ratios 4:1 and 1:1. The results are shown in the following tables.

Description of key information
In order to determine the oxidising properties of the test item a test was conducted according to: UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Test and Criteria, Part III, 34.4.1, UN test O.1.
The test item is considered to be non-oxidising as the mixtures of the test item with cellulose (4:1 and 1:1) showed a mean burning time higher than the mean burning time of a 3:7 mixture of potassium bromate and cellulose.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Oxidising properties:
- non oxidising
