Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance is expected to degrade rapidly at environmentally-relevant pH to form carbon disulphide. Carbon disulphide has a high vapor pressure and Henry's Law constant and, therefore, is expected to diffuse rapidly through soil ultimately diffusing upwards to the atmosphere. Because of this volatilization, its absorption to soil cannot be reliably measured but is not expected to affect its ultimate fate in the environment. Carbon disulphide contamination of groundwater has been reported but did not persist.
