Description of key information
The key value for C12 -15 alkyl lactates is calculated using the ECOSAR estimated chronic values for these alkyl lactates.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Fresh water invertebrates
Fresh water invertebrates
- Effect concentration:
- 0.023 mg/L
Additional information
Concerning long-term toxicity of C12 -15 alcohols for invertebrates, the NOEC for reproduction of Daphnia magna was found at 0.0063 mg/L for C14 alcohol (measured concentrations) and 1.0 mg/L for C12 alcohol. Based on the maximum concentration of C12 -15 alcohols in the UVCB under registration, the worst case NOEC is 0.063 mg/L based on the alcohols. Since this value is higher than the predicted NOEC for the C12 -15 alkyl lactates, the latter is chosen as the key value for the UVCB under registration.
