Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
The particle size distribution of Disodium 4-hydroxy-3-[(4-sulphonatonaphthyl)azo]naphthalene sulphonate(CAS No. 3567 -69-9) was found to be in the range of 150 micron to 25 micron.
Additional information
The particle size distribution was determined for test itemDisodium 4-hydroxy-3-[(4-sulphonatonaphthyl)azo]naphthalene sulphonate(CAS No. 3567-69-9 ).The test item is a red brown crystalline powder .The particle size distribution was determined with the help of Rotap sieve shaker. For this method, calibrated sieves were stacked with the coarsest opening sieve at the top of the stack and finest opening sieve at the bottom. 10 gm test item was weighed and put in the coarsest opening sieve placed at the top of the stack, covered with the lid. The stack was fitted in sieve shaker and was shaken for 10 minutes. The materialwas emptiedfrom theabovecoarsest sieve intoapre-weighed petridishes. A soft bristle brush was used to remove all the particles. The quantity obtained from the 1stsieves was weighed, and transferred to original apparatus. The above procedure was repeated for each sieve. Weightobtainedfrom each sievewas then dividedbytheweightof the test item taken and percentage of each sieve was calculated.
The particle size distribution of test item Disodium 4-hydroxy-3-[(4-sulphonatonaphthyl)azo]naphthalene sulphonate(CAS No. 3567 -69-9 ) was determined by granulometric analysis with rotap sieve shaker. The cumulative percentages of test item obtained for each sieve are as follows:
Sieve sizes(in microns) |
Percentagedistribution (%) of test item |
150 microns |
0.21% |
106 microns |
0.27% |
75 microns |
