Administrative data

First-aid measures

In all cases, obtain emergency medical attention.

-Inhalation : Assure fresh air breathing. Remove person to uncontaminated area. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.

- Skin contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Take the nfected clothes and shoes off.

- Eye contact : Rinse mmediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Occasionally lift up the upper and lower eyelids.

- Ingestion : If swallowed, rinse mouth with water only if the person is conscious.

Fire-fighting measures

When heated to decomposition, substance emits toxic fumes.

Extinguishing media to use is : foam, carbon dioxide, dry powder.

Fire fighters should wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demd, MSHA/NIOSH (or equivalent) and full protective gear.

Accidental release measures

Evacuation is necessary. Wear a self-contaminated breathing apparatus, rubber boots and heavy rubber gloves. Provide ventilation and wash spill site after material pick up is complete. Flush with plenty of water. Do not flush in sewer. Absorb spill with inert material (vermiculite, sand or earth), then place in suitable closed container.

Handling and storage

Store in tightly closed and properly ventilated containers away from heat, sparks, open flame. Keep under nitrogen. Store in dry and cool area.

Do not breathe gas, fumes, vapour or spray. Avoid any contact with skin, eyes and clothes.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every Downstream user of the intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Use only in a chemical fume hood. Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure. Provide adequate ventilation to minimize dust and/or vapour concentrations.

Personal protection :

- respiratory protection : use a NIOSH or European Standard EN149 approved respirator. Follow the OSHA respiratory regulation found in 29 CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN 149 if exposure limits are excedeed or if any symptoms are experienced.

- Hand protection : Use neoprene or rubber gloves. Well wash the hands after handling.

- Eye protection : Chemical googles or face shield with safety glasses.

Stability and reactivity

This substance is stable under advised conditions in the section "handling and storage".

Condition to avoid is moisture. Materials to avoid are oxidizing agents.

This substance can decompose in the following hazardous substances : hydrogen cyanide, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides.

Disposal considerations

Dispose in a safe manner in accordance with local/national regulations.

Contact a licensed professional waste disposal service to dispose of this material.

This substance can be burnt in a chemical incinerator equipped with a post-combustion and purification system. Dissolve or mix the material with a combustible solvent before.
