Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For this endpoint, read across was done from methyl cinnamate. Acute fish toxicity from methyl cinnamate was assessed according to EU Method C.1. The LC50 (96h) and LC0 (96h) of methyl cinnamate was found to be 2.76 mg/L (geometric mean LC0/LC100) and 0.98 mg/L (arithmich mean of measured concentrations). After correction for molecular weight the LC50 and LC0 (zebra fish, 96h) of the test item was found to be 3.00 mg/l and 1.06 mg/L.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of methyl cinnamate to fish was studied in a valid GLP test according to EU Method C.1. The test was performed under static conditions over a period of 96 hours. At all test concentrations oily droplets were observed at the surface of solution. The concentrations in test medium significantly decreased over study duration. Therefore, arithmetic average of measured concentrations were used for assessment.

The LC50(96h) corrected for molecular weight was found to be 3.00 mg/l. Data on marine water fish are not available.
