A number of published values are available for the flashpoint of 2 -(2 -ethoxyethoxy)ethanol. The only reliable measurement is from an open cup method which is not the preferred method of measurement. It should be noted, however, that all the values available are consistent and vary over a range of only 8C, covering both the open and closed methods (and a range of 5 -6C within the closed and open cup measurements respectively.) The reliable measurement is an open cup figure of 96C. However, the value used for the key parameter is the lowest closed cup figure available of 91C. Whilst not a 'reliable' figure, it is consistent as a closed cup figure relative the the expected higher reliable open cup figure. It can be concluded with confidence that this substance does not have flammability hazards under any conceivable environmental condition..
