Description of key information
The proportion of test material having an inhalable particle size less than 100 µm was below 0.1% w/w and 3.5 % w/w in the two available studies, respectively, OECD 110, Butler & O'Connor (2009, 2011)
Additional information
Information on particle size of the test substance was obtained from two separate studies; each was performed in accordance with the standardised guidelines OECD 110.
During the studies 15.5 g and 11.6 g of test substance, respectively was sieved for approximately 30 minutes on an Inclyno sieve shaker using a 100 µm sieve. The mass of the test substance passing through the sieve was then measured.
Under the conditions of the studies the proportion of test substance having an inhalable particle size less than 100 µm was below 0.1% and 3.5%, respectively. The results indicate that the test substance has a particle size that is essentially non-inhalable.
Since the study reports were conclusive and done to a valid guideline the studies have been assigned a reliability score of 1 in line with the criteria of Klimisch (1997).
The test results are indicative that the substance is not an inhalation hazard.
