Two fish bioaccumulation studies have been used in this assessment. Brosier et al. reported a study in 1972 on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). BCF was calculated according to the kinetic model (ratio of uptake and clearance kinetics) as being 40 (dimensionless). In a study on bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus), Barrows et al. (1980) determined a BCF of 30. In both studies, a rapid clearance is observed (half-life < 1 day).

It can be concluded that carbon tetrachloride has no significant potential for bioaccumulation.
