First-aid measures

Product-Specific hazards and other issues :

Vapors may cause drowsiness and dizziness

 Causes moderate skin irritation

 Moderate eye irritation

Harmful: may cause lung damage if swallowed)

Risk of serious damage to the lungs (by aspiration)

General advice  :

 Always observe self-protection methods.

 Move out of dangerous area.

 Remove contaminated shoes and clothing

 Consult a physician.

Show this material safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Inhalation :

 Move to fresh air

Do not leave the victim unattended

Keep patient warm and at rest

 Immediately seek medical attention

If breathing is difficult, give oxygen

If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical advice.

In the event of unconsciousness, apnoea or cardiac arrest (no pulse) apply cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Skin contact :

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.

Immediately flush affected area with plenty of soap and water for at  least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoe

Eye contact :

Flush eyes with water thoroughly and continuously for 15 minutes

 Remove contact lenses

 Protect unharmed eye

Keep eye wide open while rinsing

If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist

Ingestion :

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water.

 Do NOT induce vomiting.

Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person

DO NOT induce vomiting.  If vomiting does occur, have victim lean forward to reduce risk of aspiration.  Get medical attention immediately

Advice to Physician :

Causes eye irritation. May cause irritation to the eyes.  This irritation can result in redness and swelling of the eyes.)

May cause irritation to the skin.  This irritation can result in redness and swelling of the skin. Repeated contact with the skin may cause it to become dry and cracked.

If inhalation occurs, signs and symptoms may include coughing, choking, wheezing, difficulty in breathing, chest congestion, shortness of breath, and/or fever.

choking, or shortness of breath and may cause  transient central nervous system (CNS) depression

The onset of respiratory symptoms may be delayed for several hours after exposure.

Formation of toxic pulmonary edema is possible.

Inhalation may cause CNS depression. Symptoms and signs include headache, dizziness, fatigue Lack of coordination

High doses may cause CNS depression (fatigue, dizziness and possibly loss of concentration, with collapse, coma and death in cases of severe over-exposure).

In case of ingestion, the stomach should be emptied by gastric lavage under qualified medical supervision.

Fire-fighting measures

Product-specific hazards and other issues :

Suitable extinguishing media :

LARGE FIRE: Use water spray, water fog or foam. DO NOT use straight streams

SMALL FIRE:  Dry chemical  Carbon dioxide (CO2)  Dry sand

Unsuitable Extinguishing Media :

 Do NOT use water jet.

Simultaneous use of foam and water on the same surface is to be avoided as water

 destroys the foam.

Combustion Products :

Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and unburned hydrocarbons (smoke).

Specific hazards during fire fighting :

Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.

Further information :

Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Special protective equipment for fire-fighters :

Wear an approved positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and

 firefighter turnout gear.

Accidental release measures

Product-specific hazards and other issues  :

General information :

Personal precautions :

 Land spillage :

      Prevent product from entering drains.

Spillages in water or at sea :

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for cleaning up :

Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth,

diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national

 regulations.

Further accidental release measures :

Spillages of liquid product will create a fire hazard and form an explosive atmosphere

Avoid direct contact with released material. Stay upwind.

Keep non-involved personnel away from the area of spillage.

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.

Handling and storage

Product-specific hazards and other issues  :

General information :

Advice on safe handling :

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Use only in well ventilated areas.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Container may be opened only under exhaust ventilation hood.

Do not allow splash filling of bulk volumes.

Avoid contact with heat and ignition sources and oxidizers.

Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

The vapor is heavier than air. Beware of accumulation in pits and confined spaces.

Cleaning, inspection and maintenance of the internal structure of storage tanks must be done

only by properly equipped and qualified personnel as defined by national, local or company

 regulations.

Handle empty containers with care; vapor/residue may be flammable.

Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze solder, drill, or grind on containers.

Advice on protection against fire and explosion :

The product will float and can be reignited on surface water

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge.

Ensure that all relevant regulations regarding explosive atmospheres, and handling and storage

facilities of flammable products are followed.

Do not use compressed air for filling, discharging or handling.

Storage :

Requirements for storage areas and containers:

 No smoking.

 Keep in a well-ventilated place.

 Store in original container..

Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Electrical installations / working materials must comply with the technological safety standards.

Keep container tightly closed and properly labeled.

Vapor space above stored liquid may be flammable/explosive unless blanketed with inert gas.

Storage installations should be designed with adequate bunds so as to prevent ground and

water pollution in case of leaks or spills.

Storage area layout, tank design, equipment and operating procedures must comply with the

relevant European, national or local legislation.

Recommended and Unsuitable Materials for Storage :

Container Advice :

Storage in carbon steel is recommended

Further information on storage conditions :

Advice on common storage :

Other data :

No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.
