Additional information

Tests on the acute toxicity of allyl methacrylate to aquatic organisms are available for three trophic levels. Pimephales promelas was the most sensitive test species. An LC50 of 0.61 mg/L was detected in P. promelas. In Daphnia magna an EC50 (48h) of 2.4 mg/L was determined. Pseudokirchnerella subcapitata was less sensitive to allyl methacrylate. The algal growth rate was decreased by 50 % at a test substance concentration of 59.6 mg/L, EC10: 27.9 mg/l. One test on chronic toxicity of allyl methacrylate is available with Daphnia magna.. In Daphnia magna an EC10 (21d) reproduction of 0.272 mg/l was determined. Therefore the calculation of the PNEC freshwater and PNEC marine water refer to the EC10 reproduction determined in Daphnia magna.

An assessment factor of 100 is applied as the lowest of the long term results has not been generated from the lowest L(E)C50 of short term tests.

The growth of Pseudomonas putida was inhibited by 10 % at an allyl methacrylate concentration of 136 mg/L.
