First-aid measures
Description of first aid measures:
Inhalation:
Remove from exposure. Keep warm and at rest. If there is any respiratory distress give oxygen. If respiration stops or shows signs of failing, apply artificial respiration. Do not use mouth to mouth ventilation. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion:
Wash out mouth with plenty of water and give plenty water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to help prevent aspiration. Seek medical attention.
Skin contact:
Remove contaminated clothing, jewellery, and shoes immediately. Wash with soap or mild detergent and large amounts of water until no evidence of chemical remains (15 - 20 minutes). Seek medical attention.
Eye contact:
Wash eyes immediately with large quantities of amounts of water, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids, until no evidence of chemical remains (15 - 20 minutes). Seek medical attention.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:
Inhalation:
Exposure to decomposition products may cause a health hazard. Serious effects may be delayed following exposure.
Ingestion:
Ingestion may cause severe irritation of the mouth, the oesophagus and the gastrointestinal tract. May cause nausea, vomiting.
Skin contact:
Skin contact may cause redness and irritation.
Eye contact:
Extreme irritation of eyes and mucous membranes, including burning and tearing.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
In case of inhalation of decomposition products in a fire, symptoms may be delayed. The exposed person may need to be kept under medical surveillance for 48 hours.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media:
This product is not flammable. Use extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding materials.
Unsuitable extinguishing media:

Hazardous combustion products:
Oxides of nitrogen and copper.
Advice for firefighters:
Special Fire Fighting Procedures:
Avoid breathing fumes/vapours. Use water to keep fire-exposed containers cool and disperse vapours. If risk of water pollution occurs, notify appropriate authorities. This material is very toxic to aquatic organisms. Fire-water contaminated with this material must be contained and prevented from being discharged to any waterway, sewer or drain.
Protective equipment for fire-fighters:
Self contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
For suitable Personal Protective Equipment refer to Exposure controls/Personal Protection (below). Avoid inhalation of vapours and aerosol spray.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Environmental precautions:
Avoid discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground. Spillages or uncontrolled discharges into watercourses must be immediately alerted to the appropriate authority. The product is toxic to aquatic organisms and which may cause long term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
Wear necessary protective equipment. Absorb in vermiculite, dry sand or earth and place into containers. Collect in containers and seal securely. Flush with plenty of water to clean spillage area. Contact specialist disposal companies. Do not contaminate water sources or sewer.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling:
Exposure by inhalation or skin contact should be minimised by good industrial hygiene practice. Wear protective clothing as described under Exposure Controls/Personal Protection. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wash hands after handling. Avoid inhalation of vapours and spray mists. Empty containers retain product residue and can be hazardous. Do not reuse containers. Avoid release to the environment.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Store in tightly closed original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep in original container.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Process conditions:
Provide eyewash station.
Engineering measures:
Good general ventilation should be sufficient to control worker exposure to airborne contaminants. If necessary, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure below applicable exposure limits.
Respiratory equipment:
If a risk assessment indicates it is necessary, use a properly fitted, air-purifying or air-fed respirator complying with an approved standard taking into account known or anticipated exposure levels, the hazards of the product and the safe working limits of the selected respirator.
Hand protection:
Wear chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard (EN374) should be worn when handling chemical products if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary. Gloves should be changed regularly to avoid permeation problems.
Eye protection:
Safety eyewear complying with an approved standard should be used when a risk assessment indicates this is necessary to avoid exposure to liquid splashes, mists or dusts.
Other Protection:
Wear appropriate chemical-resistant clothing to prevent any possibility of skin contact.
Hygiene measures:
Wash hands at the end of each work shift and before eating, smoking and using the toilet. Promptly remove any clothing that becomes contaminated. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.
Environmental Exposure Controls:
Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure they comply with the requirements of environmental protection legislation.
