Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: If inhaled, remove the patient to fresh air. If not
breathing, administer artificial respiration, if breathing
with difficulty, administer oxygen, seek immediate medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: It exposure to the eyes has occurred, flush copiously with
water for at least 15 minutes, if irritation develops, seek
medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Skin contact is not expected to cause injury, but medical
attention should be sought if the patient feels unwell.
Contaminated skin should be washed with warm soapy water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Ingestion is not expected to cause injury, but medical
attention should be sought if the patient feels unwell.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, foam, CO2 or dry chemical.
Extinguish the fire with liberal amounts of water from a
safe distance.
Spray plenty of water to sides of the containers nearby fire
to cool them, and remove them to a safe place if possible.
Product arising from burning: May produce CO,CO2 and fumes caused by them as decomposition
products.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Use self-contained breathing apparatus and protective gear
in case of burning in large quantities.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Clean up with a vacuum cleaner.
Wear suitable protective clothing, including goggles and
dust mask or respirator, especially in dealing with large
spills. Ventilate enclosed areas.
Handling and storage
Handling: The new substance has been formulated into toner which will
be imported into Europe in tape sealed cartridges, ready to
use in photocopiers. Only the seal tape needs to be opened
immediately before use. After use, the formulated product
containing the notified substance will be fused onto paper
as a water insoluble matrix. Therefore, there will be very
low exposure under normal use conditions.
To minimize occupational exposure to the new chemical
entity, the precautions specified in the suppliers MSDS (see
9.2.03) should be observed:
1. Store in a cool place
2. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame
3. Use with adequate ventilation.
4. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing
5. Avoid contact with water or moisture
6. Keep out reach of children
Storage: The formulated product containing the new substance will be
imported in plastic cartridges weighing about 0.2 kg. These
are packed into cardboard boxes. Therefore, minimal
conditions of storage apply:
1. Store in a well ventilated environment out of direct
sunlight.
2. Store in dark and cool place.
3. Keep well away from sources of ignition (for example:
sparks, naked flames).
4. Do not store with strong oxidising agents.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The new substance will be imported in plastic cartridges
weighing about 0.2 kg. These are packed into cardboard
boxes.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: The notified substance is not considered flammable nor
combustible, but will burn if involved in a fire.
Chemical reaction with water: The notified substance is not insoluble, but hydrolyzed with
water. The substance quietly reacts with water and forms
methanol. However, the environmental hazard of notified
substance is expected to be minimal, as the involved
quantity are small.
Dust explosion: No information available.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: 612
Spilled material may be recovered for re-use provided no
contamination has occurred. Contaminated material is
unusable and must be disposed of.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: 634
Risk of combustion can be reduced by blending with inert
materials prior to disposal by land-fill.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: 665
May be burned in a chemical incinerator equipped with an
after-burner and scrubber - using the appropriate cautions
in dealing with flammable material.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The notified substance is insoluble, but hydrolyzes with
water. Therefore, bulk discharge to waterways or sewage
systems should be avoided.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance is not available to the general public, except
in the form of print - containing less than 1% weight of the
notified substance in a polymer formulation - on copy.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: See above.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: See above.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: See above.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: See above.
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: None.
