Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Available data show that the substance has no adverse effects on aquatic organisms. Further L-arginine has a low potential to absorb to organic material. Since L-arginine is readily biodegradable (it is mineralised rapidly in aerobic systems), has no potential of bioaccumulation beyond natural homeostatic concentrations, is not applied directly to soil and is not expected to be transferred indirectly to soil in significant quantity via disposal of STP sludges or aerial deposition, significant exposure of the terrestrial compartment to L-arginine is unlikely to occur. Therefore soil is not expected to be a compartment of concern. The risk to terrestrial arthoropods is negligible. For this reason and in accordance with REACH Annex IX Section 9.4. column 2 this study does not need to be conducted.
