Dimethoxy(dimethyl)silane (CAS No. 1112-39-6) hydrolyses rapidly in contact with water (DT50: <0.6 h), to dimethylsilanediol (CAS 1066-42-8) and methanol (CAS No. 67-56-1). Thus, the bioaccumulation assessment is based on the hydrolysis products dimethylsilanediol and methanol rather than on the parent substance. Both hydrolysis products have low log Pow values indicating a low potential for bioaccumulation (dimethylsilanediol: -0.38, methanol: -0.74, OECD SIDS, 2004). Thus, in accordance with Annex IX, 9.3.2., column 2 no study needs to be conducted since the log Pow is well below 3 and bioaccumulation is not expected.
