The substance (CAS No. 91053-50-8) is a viscous liquid at 20°C and 101.3 kPa. The substance is designated as a UVCBS. The freezing point, measured in accordance with OECD Test Guideline 102, was less than -25°C as the sample clearly flowed under its own weight at this temperature. 

The boiling point ranged from 110 – 160°C with foaming and apparent decomposition (colour change). The boiling point was measured using ASTM D1120 and the material erupted from the test vessel at 160°C.

The relative density of the test substance, measured according to ASTM D891 Method B, is 1.0434 at 23°C.

The vapour pressure of the test substance was calculated as 342 Pa, according to OECD Test Guideline 104 using a boiling point (decomposition) of 160°C.  This vapour pressure represents the vapour pressure of the lowest boiling component (most volatile) component of the UVCBS and is not indicative of the vapour pressure of the major constituents of the substance. The substance contains water and other minor water-soluble components that do not represent the bulk substance. For the purposes of safety assessment, the vapour pressure of oleic acid (1.87E-4 Pa) will be used.

The partition coefficient was measured using the HPLC method outlined in OECD Test Guideline 117. Since this is a UVCBS, a range of log Kow values were determined and the weighted average was used to determine the log Kow for the substance. The octanol/water partition co-efficient Log Kow (Pow) was measured to be 6.33 at 20 to 25°C (weighted average).

The water solubility, performed in accordance with OECD Test Guideline 105, was determined to be < 1 mg/L (limit of quantitation) at 20°C. 

No flash point was observed up to 180°C. The measurement was performed in accordance with ASTM D93 (Pensky-Martin Closed Cup) and the sample foamed out of the apparatus when heated. The test substance can be considered non-flammable.

The viscosity of the test substance is 6119 centistokes at 23°C.

Granulometry data requirement was waived as the test substance is marketed in a non-solid or granular form. The test substance is a liquid.

Surface tension requirement was waived as the water solubility is less than 1 mg/L at 20°C.

Auto-ignition test was not performed since it was technically not feasible. Acetylated lecithin foams at temperatures in excess of 160°C. According to ASTM E659-78, the test method is not designed for substances which are liquids at the test temperature. Acetylated lecithin will not vaporize before it begins to foam, therefore testing is not feasible.

The test substance is non-explosive based on a structural assessment of the substance, which indicates that there are no groups associated with explosive properties.

The test substance is non-oxidising, based on structural assessment of the substance. The substance contains no oxidising groups and all oxygen atoms are bonded directly to carbon or phosphorus atoms (phosphates).

Measurement of stability in organic solvents was waived, since the stability in organic solvents is not considered critical. This would be assessed in individual studies where organic solvents are used.

Measurement of dissociation constant is not technically feasible since the test substance is not soluble in water and therefore dissociation cannot occur.
