Test 1 : BAM Fall Hammer
Sample Condition: Performed on sample passing a 0.5 mm sieve
Result : 10kg weight, 40cm drop height Result N, N, N, N, N, N
Where N = No signs of ignition or explosion on impact. When the test assemblies were dismantled there were no signs of decomposition.
Test 2: BAM Friction Test
Sample Condition: Performed on sample passing a 0.5 mm sieve
Result: Weight 9, Position VI, ie 36 kgf load.
Result: D, D, D, D, D, D
Where D = No sign of ignition or explosion during friction but possible slight decomposition as indicated by dark mark on porcelain plate.
Critical load for ignition = >36kgf
Test 3: Koenen Steel Tube Test
Sample Condition: As received
Results:
2 mm nozzle "0" "0" "0"
tl/t2 = 45 secs/5 mins; 43 secs/5 mins; 44 secs/5 mins
6mm Nozzle: "0" "0" "0"
tl/t2 = 39 secs/5 mins; 43 secs/5 mins; 44 secs/5 mins
where '0' = tube recovered unchanged
tl = time from application of flame to noticeable effect from nozzle.
t2 = time from t1 to recorded event (eg explosion)
or as in all trials here to end of trial with no recorded effect.
