Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The boiling point of the substance is estimated to be 207°C at 101.325 kPa based on read-across from a suitable analogue.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Boiling point at 101 325 Pa:
207 °C

Additional information

The boiling point of an appropriate structural analogue, 3-(4-tert-butylphenyl)propionaldehyde (tradename Bourgeonal) was measured according to OECD Guideline No.103, EU Method A.2 and EPA OPPTS 830.7220 (principle according to Siwoloboff). The boiling point of the test material was determined to be 207°C (480 K) at 101.325 kPa.

The study was performed in compliance with GLP and in accordance with recognised standardised guidelines, the study was assigned a reliability score of 2 in line with the principles defined in Klimisch et al (1997) as the study was performed on a structural analogue of the substance. Due to the structural similarities between the two substances, it was considered appropriate to use data from the source substance to represent the target substance (for further details see read-across justification document, attached in section 13).
