Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Based on the results from the acute studies performed with SP-334 (2-(2-hexyl-decyloxy)-benzamide), the substance is not expected to exert toxicity to aquatic organisms within the range of its water solubility (≤0.006 mg/L). The tests conducted with fish and aquatic invertebrates did not show any effects up to a measured concentration of 0.08 mg/L (considered to be the maximum achievable concentration due to the poor solubility of the substance). No inhibitory effects on respiration rate of aquatic microorganisms were observed up to a nominal concentration of 100 mg/L. In the assay conducted with algae, effects on biomass and growth rate were reported from concentrations of 0.18 and 0.32 mg/L (nominal) respectively. However, precipitation and adsorption of the substance to algal cells occurred in all treatment groups, with measured concentrations below the detection limit. Therefore, these effects are most probably not related to toxicity but rather to physical interference with the precipitated test substance and should not be considered for further assessment.

In view of these results it can be concluded that SP-334 is not toxic to aquatic organisms within the range of its water solubility (≤ 0.006 mg/L).
