Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The melting point of the test substance delta - disodium disilicate (delta-crystalline) was examined in a DSC-method. The test substance did not melt, boil or decompose between 25°C to 500°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The melting temperature of disodium disilicate (delta-crystalline) was determined according to EEC-Guideline 92/69/EEC A.1, DSC-method. Therefore samples of the test item were weighed into high formed aluminium crucibles. These samples were exposed to a temperature /time – gradient while the thermal heat-flow was recorded. No thermogram showed any significant endothermal or exothermal signal. The result of the gravimetric analysis was that there was no loss of test item in the crucibles over the testing period. Therefore it can be stated, that the test item disodium disilicate (delta-crystalline) did not melt, boil or decompose in the temperature range from 25°C to 500 °C (upper measuring range of the equipment applied).
