Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

A valid hydrolysis study in accordance with OECD TG 111 was conducted. The results of a preliminary test indicated that further testing is required and the hydrolysis was studied in a main test at pH 7 and pH 9 with sample solutions being maintained at 50, 70 and 80 °C or 50, 60 and 70 °C. It was found that the substance was not hydrolysed at pH 4. Menthyl lactate showed very slow hydrolysis at pH 4 and relatively quick hydrolysis at pH 9. The reaction followed pseudo-first order kinetics. The half-life of hydrolysis at pH 4 was estimated to be > 1 year. The rate constants for the reaction at 25 °C were estimated by using the Arrhenius relationship and were 0.0000375 hr-1 at pH 7 and 0.00209 hr-1 at pH 9. This corresponds to half-lives of 771 days and 332 hours, respectively
