Results and discussion

Reported statistics and error estimates:
The BONFERRONI t-test was carried out for the determination of statistically significant differences compared to control replicates. When running a BONFERRONI t-test a Normaility test and Homogeneity test were done first. P-value for both were 0.05. The alpha value for the BONFERRONI t-test was 0.05.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
In this study 5-Fluoro-2-nitrobenzoic acid methyl ester was found to inhibit the growth of the freshwater green alga Desmodesmus Subspicatus at nominal concentrations > 12 .5 mg/L (biomass and growth rate). The EC50 values with 95 % confidence intervals for inhibition of biomass growth (Eb50) and specific growth rate (Er50) after 72 h were 12.6 (12.2 -13.1) and 14.5 (14.1 -14.9) mg/l.
