Description of key information
The substance was not classified as flammable, flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric, self-reactive substance, self-heating substance or organic peroxide.

Flammable liquid
In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the study is technically not feasible since the substance has a melting point close to 20 °C. Furthermore in accordance with the Introduction note given in Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 A.10 Flammability the test should only applied to powdery, granular or paste-like substances. For safety assessment it was concluded that the determination of the Flash point is more appropriate. In conclusion, the conduct the flammability of the test substance will be derived from the Flash point.
Pyrophoric properties of liquids
In accordance with section 2.9.4 Annex I of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and ECHA guidance on the application of CLP Criteria section 2.10.4.2 the classification procedure for pyrophoric liquids need not to be applied when experience in manufacturing or handling shows that the substance or mixture does not ignite spontaneously when coming into contact with air at normal temperatures. Based on the experience in handling and use the substance is not known to ignite spontaneously when coming into contact with air at normal temperatures. Thus, no study was conducted and the substance was not considered for classification as pyrophoric liquid.
Substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VI and with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 Annex I section 2.12.4.1 the classification procedure for this hazard class need not be applied. Based on the experience in handling and use the substance does not react with water and in addition the test substance is not pyrophoric. Thus, no study was conducted and the substance was not considered for classification.
Self-reactive substances and mixtures
In accordance with section R.7.1.10.4 ECHA guidance IR/CSA chapter R.7a, section 2.9.1 ECHA guidance on the application of CLP criteria and UN-MTC section 5.1 appendix 6 the test for self-reactive substances was waived. The test item does not contain any functional groups quoted in ‘UN Manual of Tests and Criteria’ (fifth revised edition, appendix 6, table A 6.1 and A 6.2) or Bretherick’s – Handbook (6th Edition, Volume 2, p 128 ff) which may indicate explosive or self-reacting properties. Therefore, it can be concluded by expert judgment that the test item does not meet the criteria for self-reactive substances. Thus no classification procedure for self-reactive substances was required.
Self-heating substances and mixtrures
In accordance with ECHA guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria section 2.11.4.2 and ECHA guidance on IR/CSA chapter R.7a section R7.1.10.7 the test does not to be conducted as in general liquids are not classified as self-heating since the phenomena applies only to solids and the test method is not applicable to liquids according to ECHA guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria section 2.11.4.2.
Organic peroxides
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 Annex I section 2.15.1 only organic peroxides have to be tested according to the UN-MTC, Part II test series A-H. Based on the structure it can be concluded that the substance is not a organic peroxide. Thus, no tests were conducted.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the chemical structure and taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance is not considered to be classified as flammable, flammable in contact with water, pyrophoric, self-reactive substance, self heating substance or organic peroxide.
In accordance with UN-Transport regulations the substance has not to be classified as readily combustible solid and self reactive substance in Class 4 Division 4.1, as self-heating substance in Class 4 Division 4.2, as substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases in Class 4 Division 4.3 and as organic peroxide in Class 5 division 5.2.
