Description of key information

Dichloroisobutylaluminium is highly reactive both towards oxygen (air) and water. It is exclusively marketed in liquid state and shipped under UN transport class 4.2 (substances liable to spontaneous combustion / pyrophoric liquids) or at least under class 4.3 (substances which in contact with water emit flammable gases). Since the substance is a transported intermediate, no extra testing was done.

Dichloroisobutylaluminium is an organometallic colourless clear pyrophoric liquid. The melting point is below - 20°C. This pyrophoric substance degrades before boiling. The relative density of dichloroisobutylaluminium is 1.125 .The vapour pressure is 0.1 mmHg at 45°C. The substance is water reactive so partition coefficient, watersolubility and surface tension are waived. Since dichloroisobutylaluminium is allready classified as pyrophoric and water reactive, flash point, autoflammability, flammability and oxidising properties are waived.

Dichloroisobutylaluminium is non explosive.
