Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
The determination or the water solubility was based on OECD Guideline No.105 "Water solubility (column elution method - f1ask method) (1981) and EEC Directive A.6 'Water solubility" (1964).The water so1ubility of 3-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylbutyl 2-ethyl-2-methylheptaneperoxoate was estimated to be 0.12 g/1 at 4 – 7°C, using the flask method.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 120 mg/L
- at the temperature of:
- 5.5 °C
Additional information
The determination or the water solubility was based on OECD Guideline No.105 "Water solubility (column elution method - f1ask method) (1981) and EEC Directive A.6 'Water solubility" (1964).
3-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylbutyl 2-ethyl-2-methylheptaneperoxoate consists of 86,8K peroxide and 0.3% neodecanoic acid. The ratio of the amount of neodecanoic acid and the amount of peroxide in the water samples was significantly higher than in the test substance itself.
Also, the amount of neodecanoic acid showed a tendency to increasing values with increased stirring times.
Apparently, a part of the test substance hydrolyses under the conditions of the test, the ratio of neodecanoic acid and peroxide in the water samples varied between 1:13 and 1:30. The water so1ubility of 3-hydroxy-1,1-dimethylbutyl 2-ethyl-2-methylheptaneperoxoate was estimated to be 0.12 g/1 at 4 – 7°C, using the flask method.
Based on this result, the substance can be considered as moderately soluble in water (100 -1000 mg/l)
