Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a GLP study conducted according to OECD Guideline 106, the solubility of trisodium EDDS in a standard fat was up to 4 mg/kg at 37oC (de Vries, 1993c)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

In a GLP study conducted according to OECD Guideline 106, the solubility of trisodium EDDS in a standard synthetic fat (HB307) was determined by stirring the test material (100 or 400 mg) with the fat solvent (50 or 25 mL respectively) at 37oC for up to 48 h. The concentration of the test material in the fat phase was measured by HPLC.

The analysed concentrations of trisodium EDDS varied from 0.09 to 3.57 mg/kg. Due to the significant variation between measurements, the fat solubility was taken to be equal to or less than 3.57 mg/kg (the highest concentration analysed) (de Vries, 1993c).

[Data on trisodium EDDS is considered relevant to use for understanding the potential fat solubility of EDDS acid, and is acceptable for using as read-across information].
