First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from exposure area to fresh air immediately. Perform
artificial respiration if necessary. Keep person warm and
rest. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Get medical
attention immediately.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Wash eyes immediately with large amounts of water or normal
saline, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids, until no
evidence of chemical remains (at least 15-50 minutes). Get
medical attention immediately.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash
with soap or mild detergent and large amount of water until
no evidence of chemical remains (at least 15-20 minutes).
Get medical attention immediately.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: If vomiting occurs, keep head lower than hips to help prevent aspiration. Treat symptomatically and supportively. Get medical attention if needed.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water fog, dry chemicals, foam and/or CO2. Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon & nitrogen, ferrioxide and chloride compounds. Product determined by test: N Protective equipment: Half-face filter mask and safety glasses suitable for the dust.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Clean up spills/leak: Sweep up, place in a bag, and hold for waste disposal. Consult an expert on the disposal of recovered material. Remove leaking containers to a safe place, if feasible. Precautions for clean up crew: Sweep slowly spilled powder on to paper, and carefully transfer into a waste container. Clean remainder with wet paper, wet cloth or a vacuum cleaner. If a vacuum cleaner is used, it must rate as a dust explosion-proof type. Fine powder can form explosive dust- air mixtures.
Handling and storage
Handling: Use in a ventilated area. Use appropriate personal protective equipment: dust respirator, rubber gloves and safety goggles.
Storage: Keep away from sources of ignition, as powder can form explosive dust-mixture when finely dispersed in air. Keep containers tightly closed and store in a cool, and well ventilated area. Keep out of the reach of children. Keep away from oxidizing materials.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The toner is sealed in a particular plastic container. The container is enclosed in a plastic bag, packed in a corrugated box and fixed with size packaging. The toner bottle is packed in a corrugated box. The weight and size of the toner bottle/cartridge is as follows: weight: 300 - 3000g capacity 0.2 - 4 litre

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will be used during normal usage of the toner. Recycling and recovery from accidental spillage are not economically or technically feasible and such waste material will be disposed of by incineration. Used paper products containing small amount of the test substance will be sent for recovery. The paper printed with the toner including the new chemical substance is de-inked during the paper recycling process. The de-inked paper is refined and used for recycled paper. On the other hand, the new chemical substance removed from paper is collected as content of water-insoluble sludge. Then the sludge is usually disposed of to landfill or incinerated as waste. Discharge to the environment from this process will be minimal.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: It is not possible to neutralise the substance.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Contaminated containers or spillage mixed with inert material (e.g. sand or soil) may be disposed of by incineration in accordance with the local regulations.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance can be disposed of by incineration, under controlled conditions at a licensed waste treatment plant and in accordance with the local regulations. Stack gases should be scrubbed because noxious fumes (carbon and iron oxides) could be formed.
