Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Eye Contact: In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.  Get medical attention immediately.

Skin Contact:  In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water while removing contaminated clothing and shoes.Get medical attention immediately.Wash clothing before reuse.Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse.Where cleaning is not expected to be effective due to either solubility properties of the contaminant or degradation of the contaminated clothing/shoes, dispose of properly utilizing appropriate methods.

Inhalation: If inhaled, remove to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel.  Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.  If large quantities of this material are swallowed, call a physician immediately.

Notes to physician: Treat supportively and symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Special FIre Procedures: Fire fighters should wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full turnout gear.

Extinguishing Media: Use foam or all purpose dry chemicals to extinguish. This material is harmful to aquatic organisms. Fire water contaminated with this material must be contained and prevented from being discharged to any waterway, sewer or drain.

Hazardous Decomposition Products:  If involved in a fire, toxic gases including oxides of carbon and sulfur as well as smoke can be generated

Accidental release measures

Personal Precautions: Refer to Personal Protective Equipment section. Immediately contact emergency personnel. Keep unnecessary personnel away. Follow all fire fighting  procedures.

Methods for cleaning up: If emergency personnel are unavailable vacuum or carefully scoop up spilled materials and place in an appropriate container for disposal. Avoid creating dusty conditions and prevent wind dispersal. Minimize contact of spilled material with soils to prevent runoff to surface waterways. Refer to Waste Disposal Information section.

Handling and storage

Handling: Avoid contact with eyes. Do not ingest. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Wash thoroughly after handling. Avoid contact of spilled material and runoff with soil and surface waterways.

Storage: Keep container tightly closed. Keep container in a cool, well-ventilated area.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering Controls: Minimize open handling. Containment technologies suitable for controlling compounds are required to control at source and to prevent migration of the powders to uncontrolled areas (e.g., open-face containment devices).

Personal Protective Equipment:

Eye/Face Protection Safety glasses with side shieldsWhere the work environment or activity involves dusty conditions, mists or aerosols, wear the appropriate goggles. Wear a faceshield or other full face protection if there is a potential for direct contact to the face with dusts, mists, or aerosols.

Skin Protection: Double disposable chemical resistant gloves.  Additional body garments should be used based upon the task being performed (e.g., sleevelets, apron, gauntlets, disposable suits) to avoid exposed skin surfaces. Use appropriate degowning techniques to remove potentially contaminated clothing.

Respiratory Protection: Use an appropriate approved air-purifying respirator equipped with HEPA cartridges/canisters where there is the potential for exceeding established occupational exposure limits or occupational exposure bands.  When handling a compound in solution, a cartridge/canister appropriate for the solution may also be needed.

Use a positive pressure, air-supplied, pressure demand tight fitting respirator (e.g., SCBA or airline equipped with emergency escape bottle) where there is a potential for uncontrolled releases in excess of the respirator's capabiliites, where exposure levels are unknown or where air-purifying respirators may not provide adequate protection.

Additional Protective Equipment: Disposable outer garments or chemical resistant garments of equal or greater protection. Protect exposed skin.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: The product is stable

Incompatibility: Sensitive to oxygen

Hazardous Polymerization: Will not occur

Hazardous Decomposition Products: If involved in a fire, toxic gases including oxides of carbon and sulfur as well as smoke can be generated.

Disposal considerations

Waste Disposal Information: Avoid contact of spilled material and runoff with soil and surface waterways. Dispose of or treat all spill residues including contaminated soils following all applicable regulations.
