Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In an expert statement it was concluded that it is technically not feasible to either perform an adsorption/desorption screening test or a batch equilibrium test with the substance. The substance is a salt, dissociated in an anion (OH) and a cation (benzyltrimethylammonium) under environmental conditions. To determine whether the use of the substance (the cation) is safe for the environment, without a Koc, a dual worst case approach as explained in a RIVM report can be followed. The environmental risks can be determined by using a Koc value of 10 and by using a Koc value of 5050. These Koc values are determined by RIVM to be the worst case Koc values for the environmental risk assessment for a readily biodegradable substance.
