- Preliminary Test
The content of test item (based on the response of the di-ester) dissolved in the water samples after 2 centrifugation steps ranged from 2.3 x 10-6 to 2.34 x 10-3 g/L. The centrifugation method was checked. The concentration analyzed decreased with each centrifugation step which may be due to adsorption on the wall of the centrifugation tube. To prevent this, it was decided to remove undissolved material in the samples from the main study by filtration.
Main Study
The results for the samples taken after stirring for 24, 48 and 72 hours at a loading rate of 0.1 and 1 g/L are given in Table 6 and Table 7, respectively. The concentration analyzed in the unfiltered sample at the loading rate of 0.1 g/L taken after 24 hours of stirring was 0.012 g/L. This concentration is much higher than the concentration after filtration and thus proved that there was undissolved test item in the solution.
At both loading rates, the maximum difference between the 24-, 48- and 72- hour stirred samples was > 15%. The concentrations analyzed in the triplicate samples from the second filtration step were comparable or lower than the concentrations analyzed in the triplicate samples from the first filtration step. Based on this, the water solubility of the test item was given as a range of all measurements after the first filtration step.
No test item was detected in the pretreated sample from the blank water mixture.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The flask method was applied for the determination of the water solubility of Amines,
N-tallow alkyltrimethylenedi-, C4-18-alkyl phosphates. The concentration of the test item in the aqueous solution was determined based on the response of the di-ester.
The water solubility of the test item at a loading rate of 0.1 g/L and 20°C was in the range of 3 x 10-4 to 5 x 10-4 g/L.
The water solubility of the test item at a loading rate of 1 g/L and 20°C was in the range of
6 x 10-4 to 1.2 x 10-3 g/L.
The pH of the aqueous samples was in the range of 7.5 – 7.9
